The Emotional First Aid Kit - Natural Remedies for Sensitive Parents & Carers

Updated: Jun 1

As a sensitive parent, I often have times when I struggle with my stress levels.

It’s only natural for us to feel what our loved ones feel. We go through everything together.

We feel what they feel, and that’s not always the easy, breezy cheerful stuff is it?!

The five remedies mentioned in this article have been loyal friends to me over the years. One of these will often be found in my pocket on a difficult day.

So, if you're looking to start building an emotional first-aid kit these five are a great place to start.

Top 5 Natural Medicines for an Emotional First Aid Kit

1. The Tissue Salt: Kali Phos 6x - For the Worried Sick Parent or the Jittery Child

The homeopathic sedative.

Kali phos will calm the nerves after long phases of worry or distress.

It helps during those times when you feel like you can't take much more. You might have nervous anxiety in your stomach or have trouble switching off at night.

Kali Phos is an excellent support for frazzled parents* and their children who can't calm down.

2. Homeopathic Combination Remedy: Narayani Calming Mix - For the stressed parent & child

For the generally stressed and nervous parent or the hyperactive child, neither can calm down. When no one is able to rest this can be a great circuit breaker.

3. Homeopathic Combination Remedy: Helios Stress Relief - When stress becomes panic

For signs of panic or high anxiety like palpitations, restlessness, dizziness, difficulty catching a breath with nausea or a need to rush to the loo.

All of these symptoms may be accompanied by an intense feeling that you are losing all control.

4. Bach Flower Essence; Elm

Elm is great when there’s a constant sense of overwhelm and anxiety that you’re not doing a good enough job looking after everyone.

5. Bach Flower Essence; Red Chestnut

If you find yourself so concerned about your family's well-being that you're getting weak and unwell, not sleeping or eating much, think of Red Chestnut.

Sourcing the Remedies

All of the remedies mentioned here are available (on request) as part of a homeopathic consultation at my practice.

Home prescribers can source the remedies* from Helios Pharmacy (*Narayani remedies are unlisted and only available via phone or email request).

Breaking Stress Cycles - Beyond Symptom Relief

Sometimes we only need a little support along the way.

These remedies can get us through short bursts of stress. Or they may even break cycles of mild burnout. But, they won’t get to the heart of your stresses or understand your individual patterns the way one-to-one homeopathic care can.

I know how hard it is to be stuck in a cycle of anxiety. Doing it all alone is even harder.

Over the last ten years, I've noticed that our resilience to stress increases and we cope better when we have support in certain key areas.

It's different for everyone, so I offer treatment plans which are completely individualised, but they may include the following:

  • Nervous system or adrenal support from low potency homoepathic remedies or HomeoBotanical Blends.

  • Nutritional mineral tonics (tissue salts) for your frazzled nerves and tired brain.

  • Individualised homeopathic remedies to match your unique stress triggers and reactions.

  • Bach Flower Essences for daily emotional support.

Your patterns, your history, and your reactions to stress really do matter.

The homoeopathic consultation can bring a deeper understanding of ourselves. Which in turn encourages self-compassion.

I believe that this place of understanding and self-compassion is where temporary symptom relief ends and true healing begins.
